It is essential as a family run British Farm, specialising in Watercress, that we strive to protect the environment. We regularly update our policies to ensure that we are delivering best practice farming methods, which meet our sustainability targets, and limit any impact to the local environment.

OBJECTIVES

  • Work with Red Tractor Assured Produce, who Champion British Farmers to ensure the highest standards of food safety and environmental protection
  • Promote our traditional British watercress to local customers
  • Reduce environmental impacts and carbon footprint

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Partner with Local Wholesalers
    • Working with some superb passionate wholesalers who promote, distribute and back haul our produce, reducing food miles
  • Reduce food waste
    • Any excess watercress waste is either utilised in traditional methods of transplanting, or composted
  • Eco-friendly packaging
    • Stopping the use of ice packed, polystyrene boxes and moving to card packaging, reducing our plastic use by 99%

    • Monitor the natural spring water, filter the water through our 2 acre read bed and settlement pond
    • Manage and farm our surrounding fields organically
